Internships and Volunteers
FWRI offers both internship and limited volunteer opportunities. FWRI interns are college-level students or post-graduates who spend a semester working with a mentor to obtain career guidance and experience. FWRI volunteers provide general assistance to FWRI for a variable period of time.

Application materials can be submitted by mail or electronically.


The intern's primary responsibility will be to assist researchers with radio tracking juvenile alligators.


The intern will work with outreach, media relations, and scientific staff at the St. Petersburg office developing a written communications plan for the topic of red tide.

Primary interns' responsibilities are assisting with various collection tasks related to maintaining biological specimens according to museum protocols, taxonomic identifications, and support of ongoing projects by FWRI scientists.


The intern will work primarily with scientific staff at the St. Petersburg office developing written materials to support several Outreach Coordination products.
