Population Monitoring and Aerial Surveys
Read about aerial surveys; synoptic surveys, including counts of manatees; and population assessments.

Articles
Due to warmer than average weather, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will not conduct the annual statewide manatee synoptic survey this winter.

The synoptic surveys are winter aerial surveys that cover all of the manatees' wintering habitats in Florida.

Aerial surveys are conducted to learn about manatee distribution, relative abundance, and use of habitat.
