In September of 2008, FWRI compiled a collection of marine GIS data layers in shapefile format. These data are available on the Marine Resources GIS data 2008 cd.

Each detailed coastal map displays local roads and interstates, marinas and boat ramps, power plants, county boundaries, FWC facilities, and numerous urban features. A latitude and longitude grid is also displayed on each map for navigational use.

In 2003, FWRI created a detailed model of Boca Grande Pass. Users can view a map of the pass in 2-D and 3-D. FWRI also produced a movie that allows viewers to "fly" around the pass and a 3-D model that allows users to interact with the model.
