Small Mammal Monitoring InternshipThe Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI) seek applicants for fall and winter internships for FWRI’s Terrestrial Mammal Research Program in Panama City.Interns will assist researchers with estimating population size through mark/recapture techniques, monitoring populations of beach mice with tracking tubes, and collecting tracks of small mammals. Data will be collected along the gulf coast area from Apalachicola to Pensacola. Duration of the internship is flexible. Because the animals are nocturnal, a majority of the work will be conducted during evening, night, and possibly weekend hours. A final project (paper, poster, or Microsoft PowerPoint presentation) will be required. Check with your department advisor to determine if college credit is possible.
