Marine scientists are among the ranks of researchers who are capitalizing on the technological advancements that have increased our understanding of the world.Two new technologies are being employed by scientists at the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute—the geographic information system and remote sensing.

This publication discusses these two new technologies and how they are being used at the institute in programs researching harmful algal blooms, seagrasses, and fisheries resources.
