The desire to produce high-quality publications has been present since the Florida State Board of Conservation's first publication in 1948. That first paper in the Education Series dealt with red tide, which is still a topic of research at the institute. Since then, more than 1000 published works, in addition to numerous research reports that do not appear in this listing, have documented the findings of institute scientists. The contributions listed have appeared in various scientific journals or as publications of the institute. In 1973, administrators combined six separate series into the Florida Marine Research Publications series, one of three current in-house series. The two other in-house series are the Memoirs of the Hourglass Cruises and the
FWRI Technical Report List. The publications and reprint issues are exchanged with libraries throughout the world. While supplies last we will send single copies of the publications in print, at no cost, to individuals who request them.
Due to copyright concerns the distribution of journal articles will only be sent
for educational or research purposes. You must agree to this restriction during the checkout process. For further information the copyright law can be found at: http://www.copyright.gov/title17/. Fair use of copyright materials at: http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl102.html.
To view the details of a publication or place a publication in your cart, click on the title of the publication. You may order more than one publication at a time, though multiples of publications are not handled. If there are a large number of orders, you may be billed for the extra costs and will be contacted beforehand in reference to your request.
Many public and academic libraries in Florida maintain the publication series of this agency as well as the journals in which the cited articles have appeared. Items unavailable through the Institute can be requested through interlibrary loan at your local public library.
