Project Summary

Maps of the seagrasses of Florida Bay were produced using 1991-92 natural color aerial photography at a 1:48,000 scale. The classification scheme used the categories of hardbottom, bare substrate, seagrass, miscellaneous, and subclasses of each. FDEP and NOAA financed the effort. The photography cost was $50,000, and the FMRI provided $12,000 in photointerpretation in-kind services. Both NOAA Coastal Services Center and FMRI were involved in the digitizing; the cost of digitizing was not tracked. Maps and data are available in hard copy and digital format (ARC coverages) from FMRI. Metadata are available.
