Project Summary

Seagrass distribution maps were not available for the area of Cape Sable to Sanibel. To fill this information gap, the National Estuarine Research Reserve program and DEP provided funds to the US Minerals Management Service. Seagrass distribution was interepreted from 1987 natural color aerial photographs (scale 1:24,000). Distribution was mapped on standard 1:24,000 USGS maps and digitized. The product was delivered to FMRI for distribution.

Reason for Project

Project area was selected as part of an effort to provide seagrass distribution data for the entire state.
