Project Summary

Natural color aerial photography from 1999 at the scale of 1:24,000 was used to map seagrasses of Pine Island Sound to Estero Bay. The classification scheme addressed continuous seagrass beds and patchy seagrass beds. The scanning and rectification are being performed by Agra Baymont; FMRI is doing the mapping and digitizing. SWFMD financed the photography ($6950), scanning and rectification ($6824); NOAA financed the mapping and digitizing ($55,000). The data are being developed as hard copy maps and in digital format (ARC coverages); metadata are also being developed.
