| This mapping effort was conducted in part for the Minerals Management Service. Natural color aerial photography from 1980 at the scale of 1:24,000 was used to map seagrasses of Florida's East Bay of the Apalachicola River. The classification scheme addressed dense seagrass beds, medium seagrass beds, sparse seagrass beds, and areas with no seagrasses. The photointerpretation and mapping were performed by EPA/USFWS; FMRI did the digitizing. The cost is unknown, and was financed by MMS for the photography, and EPA/USFWS for the photointerpretation and mapping. The data are represented as hard copy maps and are stored at FMRI in a digital format (ARC coverages); metadata are also available from FMRI. |
