Specimen Information Service (Collections)
FWRI has three extensive collections which include about 250,000 catalogued entries of preserved invertebrates and adult and larval fish. Scientists use these collections as tools to assist them as they identify animals collected during research. Collections staff members also use specimens for presentations, arrange for loans to be used as teaching or research aids, and assist scientists and the public with identifications.

Research Information Center
The center is a repository of historical research data and more than 6,000 books, 165 current journal subscriptions, 45,000 reprints, and 500 slides on marine systems. Center staff members obtain information from a variety of sources and supply that information to scientists, managers, and the public. Staff members also work to enhance our collection so that useful and current information is accessible to those who need it.

Publication Production Office (PPO)
PPO staff members edit institute scientists' manuscripts for scientific validity; advise authors on proper publication styles, formats, grammar, usage, syntax, and punctuation in various types of staff documents; and produce graphics and artwork so that research results are more clearly explained.
